About us

Greenhouse Village is a unique cooperative community designed for active adults age 55+. Its roots date to 1882, when Henry Peter Lebens homesteaded 25 acres that eventually became Lebens Flowers, one of several greenhouses and florists along Larpenteur Avenue. Greenhouse Village Cooperative opened on the former Lebens site in 2006, and we continue to honor our horticultural origins with beautifully landscaped grounds and areas for residents to garden.

Our building was designed with the environment in mind. There are many energy-efficient elements, from insulation and low-E windows to heat pump and cooling systems in each unit, as well as features that reduce sound from outside and between units.

As a cooperative, we are self-governed. Our Board of Directors is elected by the member-owners and administered by operating committees and by a management company, Paramark Real Estate Services. Anyone with an interest can serve on the Building, Finance, Interiors, Grounds, Social, Marketing or Policy committees or run for the Board of Directors. Members with many backgrounds and talents come together to share their skills and experiences for the benefit of all.
